(I know a Matthew Luke Ethan family) Ethan is very popular but a great timeless name.

I love so many of the names listed! I have very similar taste in names, too. I like classic, traditional names (that tend to be more British royalty-type names). Like you, I also used to teach, so that gave me strong opinions about a lot of names, and also helped me eliminate certain names from my lists when, for example, I had 3-4 kids named Alex (both boys & girls) & Lauren in a class! Still love the names, but didn't want such popular names. I would worry a bit that Ethan might be too popular (I'm seeing/ hearing a lot of that one lately, like Noah, Owen, Oliver, & Henry), but hey, if you love it, go with it! Our three kids' names are in the top 50, I'm sure, but I love the names and ultimately didn't care if they're that popular. I guess I'd rather have popular than trendy & popular.
I especially like strong, masculine boys' names.
These are some that I love:
William (love Will, though Liam is really popular lately)
Ben (actually like this more than Benjamin, but I like that it has a long version)
Charlie
Sam (also like this more than Samuel, but it's nice that it has a long version)
Thomas
Graham
Luke/ Lucas

Thanks ladies!
I think instead of deciding on a name before birth this time, we are going to go in with a short list of names we both like and decide after we meet him.
Right now our list is:
Ethan
Jack
Brendan
Maybe also:
Caleb (my list only but I think I might be able to get DH onboard)
Henry (DH's list mainly but it could still grow on me. I knew a Henry through middle school and high school who was super super weird and not sure I can get over that.)
We have lots of family John's, Dan, Tim's, Nick, Chris, Theo, Patrick, Joe's, Ryan's, David's, and Carter. We already have added to the confusion with our Matthew (but they at least live out of the state and it's my cousin so we only see him around the major holidays but still.)
