Default Recommend your prenatal, especially for bad morning sickness

Please recommend your prenatal! I've been taking Rainbow Light but it seems to make my nausea worse and I'm having a hard time keeping it down because my stomach just churns after I take it. I've tried different times of day and with different foods and it just isn't working for me. I just bought New Chapter based on an old thread here but am having a hard time getting past the fish food smell of it and it's so expensive. It's funny because I'm fine with my fish oil and vit D pills but the prenatal sets me off.

    What has worked for you?

    Congrats

I used a prescription prenatal for that reason, it was the only one I could stomach.

    Congratulations!

I have heard gummy prenatals as well. I luckily never really had this problem.

For DS1, the doctor told me to forget it because it just made the vomiting worse. For DS2, the only thing I could keep down was 2 Flintstone chewables!

You could just try folic acid supplements until the all day sickness has abated.

It could be the high levels of B vitamins upsetting your stomach. With DD1 I took Target brand's carb dieter vitamin (this was 2005/2006 so everything was carb related, but they were iron free an OB approved!) and then with DD2 I took either Rainbow Light Iron Free One a Day vitamin or the generic equivalent from Kaiser (iron wreaks havoc w/my IBS-constipation so I never take it). With DD2 my OB said what I was taking was fine as long as I took an extra 400mg of folic acid. In reality all a pre natal multi is one with extra iron and more folate and the folate was easily added with a generic vitamin. If you are really concerned I would get a prescription.

Even though my 'morning sickness' was the worst in the evening, I took my prenatal right before bed. I was usually asleep before I got more nauseous.

    Good luck!

My doc prescribed Natelle. It was much better than the OTC stuff, including the rainbow light.
