Where to buy "softer" boys jeans

Ds1 wears a lot of athletic type clothing typically but has always had a couple of pairs of thinner elastic jeans he will wear (jumping beans or target brand). Now that he is out of toddler sizes these softer options seem to have disappeared. I have a ton (and I mean a ton) of about 10 year old osh kosh and gap jeans from dn. Some are even elastic waist but ds doesn't like the "tight" jeans ( they actually fit him ok). I can't blame him....most of my jeans have a Lycra component and are softer...same for dh and for dd (jeggings are super easy to find which is all she will wear). I haven't shopped much since I thought I was set with the dn stash. Are boys jeans now any softer and less stiff and heavy? Where would be the best place to look?

My DS also hates jeans. He will only wear them if I can find soft ones which is very difficult once they are out of toddler sizes. I managed to find one pair about a month ago at Target. They were Osh Kosh, they had a soft waist band, but there is still a button so they "look" like jeans. I couldn't find them on the website and I bought them right when Target started carrying fall clothes. You might check Carters too, they usually have some.

I bought some awesome ones at target last year! Denzien (?) by Lee or Levi. They are soft and have a pull on waist. My kids love them.

Do you need elastic waist for him?

If not - DS has a few pairs from H&M that might work. They are actually twill pants but look like jeans, just a much lighter weight material. They have still been durable for us though, DS has been wearing his for almost a year (his pairs are black and grey). They're cheap too! http://www.hm.com/us/product/00792?article=00792-J
