Default Birthday gift for 6 year old boy

Ideas needed! This is a friend's son who is two years older than The Biscuit. They do not do superheros or characters and he is very bright and creative, but behind physically. Gifts from them tend to be cooperative board games (Snug as a Bug), puzzles, etc.

Thoughts? I would like to spend under $30; bonus points if it is something with Prime.

My 6 year old loves Legos, magna tiles, and Imaginext. There are Imaginext sets with the knights and castle that get more play here than the superhero sets. I don't know if its still available but the Imaginext space shuttle is still a huge hit here even 3 years after Boo got it.

How about one of those single-player logic problem type games from ThinkFun, like Rush Hour Jr or Chocolate Fix?

I'd buy a fun game like Sorry and maybe 1-2 Lego mini figure packs.

Good magic sets are hits among the turning 7s. Here's one that was well received:

my DS is 5.75 and sounds very similar (bright, creative/artistic, but not into superheroes, action figures or sports at all like other boys his age). he loves SnapCircuits!!

also Spirograph set would be cool. i've bought a couple for gifts and DS always sees it and is now begging for one
