Default How do you store children's books?

I'm doing a major purge/organize of our home library, and I have a challenge in the form of slim, softcover, kids' books. You know, the kind you buy from Scholastic that don't really have spines. If I put them on bookshelves like regular books, they'll never get read because the kids can't see what's there without pulling them out. I have some stored in multipurpose bins, but they don't work all that well either (though that may be a function of their location. Moving the bins to a better spot and buying more may be an option).

Our school library has special shelves that hold the books face out, but we have neither the space nor the budget to buy new storage furniture right now (also, too many book for just one such shelf. I'd need 3-4).

Right now, purging those books isn't much of an option because DD2 is still very into them and DS will be learning to read in the next year or so.
