I pierced a second hole in my left ear in 8th grade. I tried the hide-with-long-hair trick too! It is still open.

Default DD just pierced her own ears!! What follow up care so she doesn't get an infection?

I pierced my Barbie's ears with a sewing needle when I was 9 or 10, but never had the guts to pierce mself. I had my second holes done at Merle Norman when I was 23. I can't stand the sound of the tattoo needle so I didn't go to the local tattoo parlor.

DD1 had hers done at professional piercing place with a needle, and she said it didn't hurt much at all (she said her broken leg, and broken arm hurt more). The first week of healing was hard for her. She was given some wound wash to use in the shower and the spray can of saline wound wash. When they did get a little infected I had her wash them with peroxide (using a qtip) and the infection went away. She uses the saline wound wash spray daily, and the wound wash soap every other day in the shower.

We get the saline spray at Walgreens.
