We got a City Mini GT to be our main stroller for this baby and a friend also lent us the Chicco stroller frame (we have key fit carseat). So I am debating whether or not we will really need the carseat adapter? Will the City mini work for a newborn if I recline it all the way and use a head/body support?

The city mini should be fine for a newborn. I have a valco snap (very similar to the city mini) and used it with a snuzzler for DS from day one.
