    Default Hemorrhoids?

I am about 8 weeks out from DD2's birth and for the last week or two I have what I think is issues with hemorrhoids. It will be painful while going and after going to the bathroom on some days and then it will get better for several days before flaring up again. I'm not constipated at all as I have been taking Colace daily since the third trimester.

Any advice for getting rid of these?? Do they usually go away on their own?

I had them after giving birth to m ds from pushing for hours. They hurt a ton. I used cream and sitting was more painful. They do go away with time.

Ugh, I feel for you. I had them after the birth of both kids. At that point, I was prescribed something I think was called Cortifoam -- it was foam that went internally and helped a ton. I don't know if it's safe for pregnancy or not though, as I only used it afterwards (safe for nursing, though). Probably worth asking your OB, as it's so common in pregnancy. And yes, they do go away on their own eventually (in most cases) but it can take awhile.

Mine never went away after my yougest was born almost 7 years ago. Ugh. I use Earth Mama Bottom Balm as needed. I LOVE that stuff!

Thank you all for the advice! Unfortunately mine are still flaring up...it will feel like they are completely gone for several days to a week and then all of sudden, I'll go the bathroom and they will return. Did any of you see a dr about them? Who did you see? An internist, your OB, specialist? DD2 was born about 11 weeks ago so I don't know if my OB would still see me for this or not. I do think they are related to the delivery since I haven't ever had them before.

10 years later (and even had surgery) and I still have them!!!!

Ask your OB for a referral, she'll know who to send you to, as it's a frequent post baby issue.

THey'll need to figure out if they're internal or external or both, and go from there!

What was surgery like? Is that only if they are internal? Mine haven't gone away from DD's birth 2 yes ago.. They only flare up now and then so I haven't done anything about it.

Yes, they removed the internal ones with a procedure using staples/called a hemorrhoidectomy. The surgery wasn't too bad, not that painful of recovery as the pain receptors are not where they stapled. I had one that was thrombosed while I was pregnant that was foolishly excised, I DO NOT recommend that, but I couldn't even sit and still had months to go. I get them while pregnant, and it's not even due to straining, it was how I carried babies!!!

I still have a few external ones but they are a PITA, literally to remove, and not covered by insurance and I never seem to have a good time to get them removed (I work and don't get sick leave and sit for hours in my car driving to various job sites). But they are embarrasing during sex, although my boyfriend is like, whatever. They also make wiping difficult. Sorry if TMI.
