Lockwood series (might be a little dark, but my 11 year old loves them)

Oldest DD1 is 10. When she was in second grade her reading interest really took off when her teacher lent her a bunch of the American Girl historical books. I think she has read almost every one. Other series she has loved are:

    Cupcake Diaries
    Abby Hayes
    Anything by Gail Carson Levine
    Princess Academy
    Just Grace
    Smile/Sisters/Drama by Raina Telgemeier

She has also enjoyed classics like Little House series, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, etc.

Her newest addiction is the Valient Hearts series by Dina Sleiman. She has two books on her Nook that she reads repeatedly, and borrowed the third from the library. It is a Christian based series. She likes the historical aspect and the strong female characters.

My DD sounds very similar. These are the two I was going to mention too - she reads other things, but is most excited about these.

I'm taking notes on the rest of this thread. So many good recommendations!!

Pegasus series by Kate O'Hearn. It's kind of like Percy Jackson but with a female lead character.

The Ivy and Bean series was great. I even liked reading them. Fancy Nancy has chapter books that we enjoyed too.

Chiming in a little late, and I don't know if someone already mentioned this, but Patricia Wrede's 3 book series, The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, (starting with Dealing with Dragons), is WONDERFUL. They are about a princess who refuses to be "proper" and is a real go getter!
