DC has outgrown the Evenflo Maestro Booster Car Seat (in height). What carseat/booster comes next? DC is 50 lbs, 45”H. Would greatly appreciate specific recs/links please! DC is 6yo.

Is it outgrown in the harnessed mode? I am not personally familiar with that seat, but when I looked online it seems your DC would still fit in this seat in the booster mode. Limits for booster are 110lbs and 57in http://www.evenflo.com/car-seats/mae...s_maestro.html

I didn't realize it transitioned into a booster.
So does a booster come next, after the harness? Our pedi mentioned a harness is still safer at this age even though a booster is technically okay. So I'm unclear whether it makes sense to invest in another harness carseat, or if there's some type of middle option between harness-carseat and booster?
I have DD in a Frontier. It has higher harnessed limits. But I don't think I would buy one for a 6 year old. I would transition your seat to a booster.

I would try using the Maestro as a booster (the manual should be available online if you don't have your copy, it has instructions!) and see how it goes. At age 6 a booster is very appropriate IF DC will sit up in the correct position and not play with the seatbelt, lean over to pick stuff up off the floor, etc. Most typical 6 year olds can be taught to do this. If it goes well it is safe and you can keep using your Maestro (or go look at other boosters if you decide you want a new one). If you decide DC is not mature enough to do that, there are other harnessed seat options available that will work for bigger kids.
Here is some info/illustrations on what to look for in terms of seatbelt fit with a booster. http://csftl.org/proper-booster-fit/

At age 6, I'd just transition to a high back booster, since it's silly to spend $250 on a frontier. I just switched my 7.5 year old from his frontier to a high back booster. (He's tiny though...47" and 50 lbs.).
