    Default Help! Bridesmaid dress.

I have pretty much free range for any style for my sister's Nov wedding but have to get David's Bridal 'Marine' color (which is basically navy blue). Plus size around 18/20 but I haven't lost a lot of my prg weight from DS3 (who is still breastfeeding) and carry my weight in my stomach. Not a fan of my shoulders either plus wedding is in Nov in Missouri so short sleeves would be a plus. I tried David's Bridal today and found a couple dresses that were meh but I guess would work. The sales person wasn't really helpful and I'm really not even sure what kind of dress I should be aiming for to be most flattering for my body. Any suggestions for websites/stores/and dress types would be really appreciated, I hate this stuff and am in my last 6 months of school with 3 kids and don't really have time to spend forever finding a dress.

These were the options for my cousins wedding this past May and all of the bridesmaids were happy with them. My sister wore the cap sleeve one. I do find from personal experience trying on this brand of dresses that they either run slightly small or true to size. I am 12/14, but have tried on a 16 and it has worked (although I didn't end up buying the dress).

I rented this Adrianna Papell dress from Rent The Runway in navy and I really liked it. RTR has it in their plus size section (I wore a 14w and most W dresses are kind of big on me) so maybe you could order this one and try it and then return it and rent it for $50 iirc. You get two sizes in dresses from RTR (and I have a referral code as well if you would like it). I carry my weight in my stomach, hips, and thighs as well.

    Other dresses that might work:
    Adrianna Papell rushed sleeveless dress
    Alex Evenings wrap dress

I'm assuming you want to wear a supportive bra as you are nursing still? Do you want a tank style or short/cap sleeves? What length dress. I looked at their website and there are a few, but without knowing your preference for dress length, and sleeve style.

Annie, I think she has to buy from David's bridal as the bride wants that exact color of blue.

Do any of these seem like they'd work?

Most of their dresses are strapless, which drives me crazy! A lot of women don't want to to wear strapless or spaghetti strap dresses.

OP, did you get a chance to try this one:

I think with a shawl or wrap, you might feel more comfortable with your shoulders ... plus it could double as a cover-up if you needed to nurse your DS at the reception. The straps seem wide enough that you can wear a regular bra and the cross-front should be fairly flattering. I know you're feeling very self-conscious about your midsection, but, TBH, Spanx would definitely go a long way with this gown! (Though the fabric doesn't look particularly clingy and the skirt is fairly full.)

I understand feeling body-conscious; I do, too. It stinks and I hope you're able to find something that works. (P.S. - I'm not a big fan of David's Bridal; I tried on wedding gowns there and wasn't particularly impressed.)

I like a lot about that dress but if OP is self conscious about her stomach, Empire waist is one to avoid. I was thinking v-neck would be good though.

OP- I think some sleeves draw more attention to less than perfect arms so I wouldn't rule out sleeveless dresses.

Thanks for the help! I ended up going back with my mom today after looking at some plus sized bridesmaid dress ideas to get a better idea of what more flattering fits would look like and ended up going with the sleeveless but convertible dress http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_...esmaid-dresses . It has pleats in the front that can be wrapped around the top as sleeves/shawl/halter/etc. The versatility aside, the fit worked well for my body type.

Not a huge fan of David's Bridal either but really didn't want the hassle of trying to match the right shade of navy blue between different places (I really tried to look online for maybe an easy comparison/cheat but didn't find much) and my sister is the OCD type (she has been bugging me every weekend for 3 months to get my dress because she was worried it wouldn't be in on time...it will be there in 2 weeks.) Glad that is over with at least! Thank you for the suggestions, they did help!

Now I have a few months to try to lose weight since I am probably going to need to get it altered a bit anyway (I'm short).

Can you wear a real bra with that dress, that would be my only question. It's a pretty dress though.

As long as I arrange it with sleeves, I can probably get away with a regular bra. I am going on a trip in Sept and hopefully that will wean DS3 because I really plan to not be nursing in November still.
