    Default 1st Vegas Trip

A friend and I are trying to plan a surprise Vegas trip for our husbands as a gift. It would be the 4 of us traveling there from the Northeast for a long weekend (Thurs- Sun most likely). We are looking at the end of March. Want a nice hotel on the strip we think, but probably not 5 star unless we got a good deal.

Only one of us has ever been and it was a long time ago. Anyone have any recommendations - hotels, things not to miss, how to get best deals?? Package deal vs. buying flight/hotel separately?

We got a good deal on Southwest Vacations. We really liked our suites hotel- Vdara. Good location, spacious room.
I'd see a Cirque (or similar) show. Each casino and hotel has something cool to offer. I'd walk them all and check them out.
Bouchon for breakfast or brunch at the Venetian.
You probably have time to book a day trip tour to Red Rocks for some hiking.

I highly recommend going out to see the Hoover Dam. That is an incredible feat of engineering. Try a travel site to see if you can get a hotel deal. I booked a flight through Travelocity and was able to stay at the Wynn for what I was originally going to spend on a less nicer hotel. Dh and I stayed at the Bellagio and really liked it--got a decent deal. We saw "O"--it was a great Cirque show. We ate at awesome restaurants.

    Default 1st Vegas Trip

Encore is a nice Wynn hotel and newer and not so mega huge as to be insane. Plan and get reservations for some dinners out, there are some great restaurants. If your husbands are into hiking or mountain biking, you could take a day trip. But for a quick weekend away I'd get massage, hair blown out and some sexy clothes and enjoy grown up time with whatever you like - drinks, cards, a club and dancing/people watching and remember the Vegas mantra, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Sans kids, my husband would think it was odd to visit a dam, but he might like mountain biking while I was at the pool or spa before an adult nice dinner out with friends. And sleep in and enjoy the alone time! Have fun.

We went this summer and stayed at the Cromwell. It was VERY nice, but the pool was ridiculous. $20 Moscow Mules at the pool, and you aren't allowed to take water bottles up with you. Also, very limited pool hours because it turns into a night club at night. Snoop Dogg was there while we were, but we are too old to stay up for him. I would highly recommend Cirque O. We bought the cheaper limited visibility and had amazing first row seats. Skip the Zombie Burlesque show.
