Default Any experience with an executive function coach?

Does anyone have any experience with an executive function coach/tutor for your child? Any details you can share?
    - did it work well
    - how long did you have this person and on what frequency (eg weekly?)
    - what did it cost
    - how did you find a good person

    thanks!

I didn’t know such a thing existed, but that would be such a huge help here!!

I think egoldberg had one for her daughter - she hasn't been posting here lately but you might want to PM her.

This is definitely something that I could see DS needing in the future when he needs to be more responsible for his own "stuff".

A friend used one for her son and said it was great. I don't know the specifics though. She found hers through the learning specialist at school.

No BTDT, and I am pretty sure there is nothing that specific where we live. That said, it sounds great! If you have names of people out there who do this, I would ask them if they have any parent references, and then call the parents and ask what they though was helpful, what was not helpful, as well as your other questions.

A private practice OT who works with kids with executive functioning issues might be a good person to ask for names if you don't have any (at least here that's the only person who has been helpful as far as finding non-advertised resources for us that I didn't know about yet).

We just had a full neuropsych done on my ODS, who has Tourette's. The doc recommended an executive function coach for him but said it isn't a formal designation. There are regular tutors out there calling themselves EF couches, while there are some psychologists and OTs who also do this. The main function is to work on organization skills, helping to scaffold tasks, self advocacy, study skills, etc. For those who asked what it is - it's a tutor but more help on how to be a good student/thinker vs teaching an actual subject. She gave us a few names in our area but I have no idea how to find such a person otherwise.

In my research they help kids get and stay organized for homework by setting up a system. They provide things like graphic organizers and other approaches to writing. They have systems for tackling large projects.
