I have prescribed spironolactone and finasteride for this. if the hair loss is more frontal, doxycycline has been shown to work in some patients. If you live near larger teaching hospitals with a derm residency, most have a hair loss clinic. I refer to a few great ones in Boston, but I am sure other cities have them too.

    My friend is taking this:

And it has helped tremendously. Her hair is noticeably fuller.

Ok thank you! I will look up the meds you mentioned. My dermatologist prescribed spironolactone but warned me it was like Rogaine (which was the only other option she offered me) - it would stop more hair from falling out but wouldn’t help with regrowth, and it’s basically for life - so if I stop taking it, all the hair that would have fallen in the meantime will all fall off in one huge shedding. So that scared me off from trying it...Do you believe that is the case with spironolactone?

We live near a large teaching hospital but not sure about derm residency, I’ll ask my family (who teach there), if they do. I’m glad you mentioned that bc I wouldn’t have thought of that at all.
