Buying something for someone you don't know well is the pits, especially when they already buy stuff for themselves that they want.

Is he at all outdoorsy? I absolutely love my merino wool BUFF (original design, in merino wool) and DH has been coveting mine so I got him his own for Christmas. It's thin, doesn't take up any space, perfect for mild/moderate winters either alone or as a layer (under a ski helmet or under a thicker hat if it's super cold, or as a neck warmer)...I wear mine mostly as a beanie, which is how DH has been coveting it

I'm super sensitive to wool but this somehow doesn't bother me at all - it's soft, thin (almost gauzy) and yet somehow warm. It's like the Aden & Anais blanket for your head and neck. I need to add it to the favorite things thread!

Maybe a growler? I got a similar one for dh and he really likes it. https://www.costco.com/Reduce-Growle...100311606.html

The lantern lots of people posted about a couple years ago? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001TS71NG/

Maybe something like this if he likes to fix stuff? A male relative loved this.

Maybe just pick up a couple new board games from Target for easy returns, gift receipt and done? Or make a small date/movie night basket since they have a new baby, with a babysitting iou if they're local.

A portable charger is great for someone who travels. We always buy Anker brand

I agree with the PPs that suggested a GC. I don't know that I would do a coffee place until you know know what place he likes. Target or Amazon I think would be 'safe' choices.

This. I totally get not wanting to give GCs, but I couldn't in good conscience continue to spend money on "things" that he clearly cares nothing about. That's a waste of your money. But if you if you really want to give something, I guess I would go with the board games and a gift receipt. I also think that I wouldn't be too concerned if the total came in under $50.

If you like the portable charger, you might like a portable solar charger. I used something like this on a week long canoe trip and my DH uses it when he camps with scouts (.... no comments re taking electronics camping....)

Using google maps, my ds2 was able to find the coffee shop they always visit (ds2 tags along to the dog park when we visit). Sadly, no online gift cards. I can call...just not sure it’s worth the effort.

If he typically just buys what he wants, a gift card isn't all that great.

I think the portable charger or the Rambler idea are great. Include a gift receipt and you're done.

Something dog/dog park related would be good, too, but I don't know what that would be. I don't have a dog so what I think would be super useful probably wouldn't be!

These look very cool. You can even choose the color.
