    Default WTH, Netflix.

What is up with Netflix suddenly auto playing whatever the featured show is? The kids have their own profiles, and some of the show trailers that are being automatically played are very scary and disturbing. This was the latest one that began auto playing today. The trailer talks about the teenage boy being a psychopath, wanting to kill his girlfriend, graphically shows him plunging his hand into a vat of boiling oil to “feel something” (and the subsequent burns). This is being shown on a profile that mainly watches American Girl movies, Lab Rats, and Sing. Seriously, WTF.

PS, read the description of the first episode.

Yikes!!! I have not noticed this happening for us, but I will keep a much closer eye out. My kids still have their profiles, and we do have it set for quite a few restrictions so maybe that is why??

Wow, yeah that's definitely disturbing. We haven't been on Netflix for a while but I will definitely be on the lookout for this and I'll contact them if it happens to us.

We haven’t had that happening in our house on the devices the kids watch most. I have auto play disabled on their Netflix (and on every streaming app). Have you done that? I wonder if that might stop the autoplaying of the trailers.

I think someone needs to invent an app that allows parents to create an approved playlist from multiple sources (Netflix, Amazon, YouTube) so that kids can choose from among pre-approved programming but do not see other options. I am incensed that my 5 year old daughter is now a Barbie show fan and that my son has found some show about butts he watches whenever unattended. In the olden days, I made a playlist, and those were the shows the kids saw. Now it’s all really poor suggestions from Netflix about what they should watch.

Thanks for the heads-up OP! It probably won't help this situation, but just in case, I just logged in to my online account, went to playback settings and disabled "play next episode automatically.

Ugh, is it Buttman? My kids think it's hysterical too. I actually let them watch it once or twice bc honestly they get bored with it quickly and go on to watching something normal.

I don’t know what it’s called but many of the characters are actual bottoms and there’s lots of wordplay, puns, and potty jokes. My children think farts are about the most hilarious things in the universe, so, unfortunately, this show has become a favorite, and though I haven’t watched a single episode myself, I am frequently regaled with jokes from the show my kids are convinced I will agree are extremely humorous. I’m waiting for the phase to pass, but I feel like it was under control until the show legitimized this brand of humor. Boo!

Are the profiles made for the kids "kid" profiles? Those are limited in what you can watch, search for etc. I'd be very surprised if they let these ads play on a kid profile, but on a profile that watches mostly kid programs I can see it happening (although I agree that it's not appropriate!)

DD has her own profile, but it's a "Kids" specific profile - ratings restricted, etc. - so she can only access certain things.

If she wants to watch, say, Trollhunters, however, she needs to use my profile.
