Default What shoes do your Kindergarten girls wear to school?

Since I’m the family's official "footwear Grandma," I know what DGD2 wore to kindergarten! Ive been buying her See Kai Run shoes for years (only on sale, of course!) and they’ve been good quality. They’re also a little different from the ubiquitous brands, so easier to find whenever everyone has to take off their shoes for an activity!

Most of the time she wore sneakers like these, regardless of whether she was wearing pants or dresses: https://seekairun.com/robyne-sale/

Before she was in K, I got her some Mary Jane sneakers, which were OK but she preferred the regular kind: https://seekairun.com/marie

If she needed something dressier for an occasion, I got these, and she then wore them to school after the occasion: https://seekairun.com/ava/

Her school required separate indoors-only sneakers for PE in the gym, and she just used whatever was cheap and fit from Target/wherever.

DD wore Mary Janes most of the time and sneakers (Velcro closure) on gym days. For field day, she wore Keens or Merrells (covered her whole foot & could get wet), depending on what we could get cheapest at the time.

We also have snowy winters and wet springs, so she had snow boots and rain boots, but it sounds like that's moot where you are.

Dds both wore New Balance and in fact Dd1 is 12 and still wears New Balance and a pair of 990s lasts her a year.

Dd2 didn’t like the New Balance as much so we got her Nike Fre w/Velcro at Nordstrom Rack. The shoes wore well and they lasted until they were outgrown.

Dd1 also needed all black sneakers for band and so we bought her Champions from Payless and they have worked quite well for her as backups.

I also had to buy DD2 some shoes for sleep away camp and she had good luck with Champions as well so they will save me a few $ vs. the Nikes so we will see how they last in school.

We used to buy sneakers from Lands End, but looking just now they don't seem to have the same style. These are the closest, but they're not as cute, imo.

My kids also liked closed-toed athletic sandals, like Keens, when they were that age. Our school didn't have mulch though.

Really? Why? I'm not doubting it at all, because schools seem to ban anything. But as long as the kid had gym shoes when necessary with them, why ban cowboy boots?

We love Cienta sneakers! Mary Jane style so they look great with everything - dresses/skirts/pants/shorts etc. We buy 2 colors each year (usually navy and either red or hot pink) but wear the navy most since it goes with everything. Here is the link on Zappos: https://www.zappos.com/p/cienta-kids...=pd_brand_page

You can buy lots of places. Cienta has a website as well, which I've purchased from. Free shipping and returns. https://cientausa.com/

They make Nike in “girl” colors. Not sure why a female child wouldn’t wear sneakers? Nike shoes don’t fit my kids’ feet well, so we usually get something else. Right now mine have Skechers in some hideous glitter rainbow print and the other prefers a Mary Jane style shoe with an athletic-ish sole. Still great for running around the playground! I can’t remember the brand. It was something that was cute and fit from Nordstrom. They’re washable. A newer brand. We’ve had Stride Rite and Tsukihoski in the past. My oldest loved Converse because she wanted to show off tying her own shoes in K.
