40th bday gift for a female friend or relative?

Anything special you've given or been given for a 40th, especially when the woman isn't excited about turning 40?
Would like to spend $30 or less, if possible.

Nice wine is the pretty standard gift to give and get in that situation. A lovely box of local chocolates or treats would be fine too. Remove the pressure of making it special. Nice enough will do.

Is she having a party? If so, it would be nice to photograph the event (nothing fancy, just on your phone) and give her a photo book of the photos. My sister did that for my 40th and I treasure it.

"Nice enough" is definitely fine, especially if this isn’t a welcome milestone. (Personally I don’t really understand what the birthdays ending is -0 or -5 are such a bigger deal than others....)
