    My daughter's everyday bed is a daybed. (The IKEA one that pulls out to become a queen-size.) I see it in a lot of girls' rooms. We haven't seen any downsides. Even making the bed has not been a problem.

    (oh one problem -- its hard to retrieve dropped objects that manage to make it between the bed and wall. But that is more because of the heaviness due to the drawers underneath.)
