    Default Is this cocktail attire?

So DH and I were invited to an acquaintance's 50th birthday party on a yacht in 10 days! I just got the invite 2 days ago because she had my email address misspelled. It's cocktail attire. I've never been on a yacht before, but I'm assuming it will be pretty cold outside on the water in mid November. I'm already freezing sitting at soccer practice at 6pm so I don't want to wear a sleeveless or short sleeved dress. I have this Boden dress already that's thick and warm. I wore it for Thanksgiving in New Orleans. Would this be considered cocktail attire or do I need something darker colored? Normally I would RTR for something like this but I only have 2 weeks so have to figure it out real soon!

I think so! The length is right, and the style is really simple and elegant. I think it looks great!

You look amazing! I think that dress is great! If you feel like shopping you could try to find a darker color but I think that’s fine.

Looks good to me. Bling it up though. Chandelier earrings and some fun bracelet(s).

I think it's slightly casual for cocktail attire, but I also think you can get away with it. I'm sure there will be people who are less dressy, but probably the majority will be more dressy.

I think because you are in Socal and it's on a boat with fancy accessories it works and the color is gorgeous. Almost everyone else will be wearing black. Maybe some sparkly shoes?

I love it! I'd get that same dress in black and have it to wear to many events!
If you choose to wear that dress, I'd get a blingy necklace.

You can't see it because it's on the other wrist but I have a wide sparkly bracelet on. And my shoes are maroon, with a scalloped edge, not black.

What would be a blingy necklace? I'm horrible at fashion and only bought this dress because I saw a blogger wearing it! I thought the neckline was too high to wear a necklace. It's a ballet neckline.

I think you look fantastic in the dress. It’s classy and elegant, yet in a standout color that is unique. I like it!

Omg, so change of plans!!! I tried on the dress and it's super tight! Since I started being treated for Graves/hyperthyroidism 3 months ago I've started gaining weight. I checked the size chart and it says I'm now an 8, the dress is a 4!!! I could still zip it up, but even with my Squeem cincher on the tightest setting it's just a little too snug to be comfortable for an entire night! So now what? I guess I need to get a new dress! Any suggestions?
