Thanksgiving Day Traffic NJ Tpk?

We are driving South to Philly area on Thanksgiving, heading out early in the morning. Not sure if any locals can weigh in on it there will be traffic? I know there is almost always traffic on the NJ Tpk, but just hoping that in the actual holiday, it might be quieter

You should be fine. I have done the reverse a number of times and have been fine driving, leaving at 8. What area of philly are you going to? 95 In philly stinks.

That’s perfect. So long as you are on PA turnpike, I think you should be fine early. Wednesday is awful and Sunday is bad.

Not sure where you are coming from but if the turnpike looks bad in either direction, if you are near to 287, 206, 78 or 202, you can also take back roads. Takes longer than turnpike without traffic but it’s reliable and more interesting

I’m local to the area and around here you should be fine! We usually travel home on the Schuylkill expressway though KOP thanksgiving evening 8-9pm and have slight delays around the KOP mall area, but nothing major or enough to make me change the route.
