Default I'm Sorry My Broken Ankle Inconveniences You

Maybe this is petty, but I broke my ankle two weeks ago and I'm really annoyed that I'm being called "lazy" for not being able to take in the mail or declutter our tables.

Last I checked, having a broken ankle means you rest it until it heals. That's not being "lazy." (The last thing I want to do is re-injure myself and have healing take longer. I'm already antsy.)

That sounds borderline abusive. I’m sorry. I hope your ankle heals well.

If my DH called me lazy, broken ankle or not, we'd be having a serious discussion about our future.

Lizzy - I think you’re great and I really wish you lived closer so I could offer IRL support. Your DH is a bully. I hope you can one day see that you are worthy of so much more. Big hugs to you!!

So much of what yuh said makes it clear that you’re way too good for him. What an absolute a$$ he is. Hard to imagine his redeeming qualities overriding the negatives. Feel better soon!!!!

I find my family has wonderful intentions when I am not fully functioning, but their follow through is not as they had planned. Usually I get a few days and then it gets difficult for them to pick up the slack...

Just let them know that you WANT to do the "stuff", but simply can't at this time! Then just take care of yourself. Feel better soon!

Oh yikes, I don't have a broken anything and I still don't bring in the mail most days. Ignore him and keep resting.

Same. I’m pretty sure I would conclude we have no future.

Thanks guys. I have a set of crutches (requires two hands) and a knee scooter (requires two hands) so anything I do with the tables has to be planned down to the last second.

I'm a little more mobile thanks to the knee scooter, but I'm not up to doing any serious decluttering.
