    Default How reply?

My sister, the one I complain about, isnít going to my parents for Christmas. She sent a group text saying not enough time off, too expensive (which happens when you donít book international flight until 3 weeks before Christmas), and sheís tired from new job and wants to just sleep.

The ďI must look after my little sisterĒ side of me, wants to invite her to my house. The ďIím exhausted from dealing with stress of DSí nerve pain disorder and missing too much workĒ side of me wants low-key no drama Christmas with our close friends.

So Iím not going to invite her, sheís 44 and has friends Iím assuming she can spend Christmas with, like she did for Thanksgiving. But how do I reply to that text? Iím waiting for my mom or older sister to say something first, but they often donít reply to the texts for awhile or at all.

Keep it simple. Tell her thanks for letting you know. Keep your holiday simple as well. I rarely spend Thanksgiving or Christmas with my parents or siblings and there is no ill will.

I like this one. I really do think your little family needs to do whatever you can to reduce stress and take care of each other.

We do need no stress. Our close friends are dealing with similar issues and we all need things to be simple. I offered to host as they have more issues, but itíll be simple easy food or Iíll buy prepared food. Super simple is my motto

Too many families hold onto traditions and feeling obligated to spend all holidays together. It sounds like a good opportunity for you to do what you want. Honestly she's probably hoping someone will buy her ticket. I like your response. Take the time to relax this holiday season.
