Default Rome -- best pass - advice

    Hello
We will be travelling with our 2 kids -- 8 and 4, to Rome by the End of December for 3 days.

We want to do the most popular attractions ( Colosseum, Roman Forum etc). Any Rome- travel experts here who can tell me the best way to cover these attractions ? We would love to skip the line at most places. I am confused by the many pass options vs the fact that kids enter for free at many places. If I buy a pass, does that mean I dont have to reserve time online? What about kids? should I buy pases for them?

    TIA

I would not do the pass if you want to skip the line and book through Viator or other group that does skip the line. Have fun.

We just did this. Buy the Roma pass for you and DH. That gets you to the front of the line anywhere you go. It also gets you into the first 2 places free. So see the Colosseum and the Forum as your first 2 because they are the most expensive. We got the pass for 72 hours, I think you can get it for 48. It is also your transit ticket--you just have to validate it the first time you get on the bus. The kids go in with you for everything. At that age, they might ride the bus for free. If not, you can buy them a 72 hour bus pass. Check out the Rick Steves Italy book for info. I have tried to link my trip report here and it isn't working. I will try one more time in another post.

Here is the link to my trip report with all the details you need. Rome is at the end. It's a long trip report so I had to put Rome in the comments section.
