Default Canon camera - buy refurbished?

I’m on the fence about buying a new point & shoot camera for my upcoming trip to Ireland. My current camera does not have an optical zoom. The one I want is the G7 Mark II. It’s normally $699 but Canon has discounted it to $649 for the next few weeks. They also have refurbished ones on the Canon website for $499...worth it? I’m thinking yes, but need some reassurance. I’d like to save that $150+

Years ago (2003 or 2004, I think) I bought a refurbished Canon camera and I had great luck with it. It lasted a good 5 years iirc!

I would absolutely buy refurbished. Look at Keh.com. They are known for having very high quality refurbished cameras.
