Default recommend books for DS2 (11)

DS2 has recently enjoyed the spy school series -- he is in 5th grade and on grade reading level. He likes funny books.

I am not going to be much help as DD is younger, but she also likes funny books. I am also struggling to find books that she will enjoy. Is the spy school series funny?
    Book series she has enjoyed:
    Diary of a wimpy kid
    Dog Man
    Captin underpants
    13 story tree house
Diary of a sixth grade ninja

Land of Stories series - my DD loved it. It's about fairy tales, but clever, and she had some classmates (boys) who liked it a lot.

Forgot about those! I loved them and told ds2 to add them to his list.

Has he read all the Chris Grabenstein books? There's Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library (and the sequels) as well as Welcome to Wonderland. James Patterson has a bunch of funny series - the Treasure Hunter series, the I Funny series, and the Middle School series.

Dd1 loves all of these books! She really liked all of the Stuart Gibbs books. He has the Panda series and the Alpha Moon series. Both of those are great.
Also try Carl Hiaasan. Hoot is the first book, there are about 5 books in that series.

Holes and Tales from the Wayside Schools by Louis Sacher
Not funny but a series that seems to have really caught the interest of boys that age is Wings of Fire series (fantasy series about dragons)
The James Patterson Middle School series
