    Default Shipping Costs!

I ordered some clothes for DC. Two items were not quite as big as their size indicated so they would be quickly outgrown. I ordered them from a boutique that didn't have return shipping labels. DH was going to Fed Ex anyway so he offered to take the box. Well, it turns out the cost to send this small box with 2 items in it was $21--the clothes were only $40 and I am stuck with store credit as there are no refunds from this boutique. I would definitely have kept the clothes rather than pay the cost of shipping but DH didn't ask me--he just paid it.

So, my main b**** is with insane shipping costs (this was the cheapest method and was significantly more expensive than another larger, heavier box that was sent at a faster speed and when DH asked why that was, the girl said some something about where it was going but each package was going across country). I also have a small b**** that I wish DH would've called me so I could've just kept the clothes.

Oh, and I guess I should point out that the shipping company was Fed Ex. The other box that was cheaper was twice the size, twice the weight (at least), and shipping faster and they were going a similar distance.

I’m with you! We don’t have many stores near us, so I do all our clothes by mail order, and I’ll only order from companies that provide return shipping for a reasonable fee. Also, FedEx is about as expensive a way you could ship as possible. I was upset about a post office charge of $14 for a Children’s Place package (no more ordering from them!) but I’m sure with Fedex it would have been double. I hope your DH thinks it through next time. Of course having those clothes for a short wearing time is better than paying money for nothing!

I hate paying shipping or return shipping. USPS is always the least expensive though.

Yup, fed ex or ups are more expensive tjs usps. In the future reuse a vinyl mailer you probably have (i keep all of the ones we get) vs a box. Sorry your dh didn't call you before he shipped.

One of the bargain groups I follow on fb just posted a big outline of shipping methods with the new rates that start next week. https://www.kidsstealsdeals.com/usps..._33kR6RhcqmTaQ

The way I get around shipping costs is by mystery shopping USPS. With the exception of the month of December, when they don't evaluate, I can almost always pick up a USPS shop within 10 miles of my house when I need to ship something. I cannot post the info here because it is against the rules to post a mystery shopping co with the name of the client, but if anyone is interested, you can PM me. Most of the shops pay $12 for writing up the report (which takes 10 minutes max) and reimburses up to $13 of postage. The box has to be at least one pound.
