Question Outings for 10 year olds?

DD's friend is having a birthday, and his mom suggested an outing for the two of them together (we used to live really close and they rode the bus together, but since we moved, they only get to see each other in one or two classes at school).

Other than a bike ride, going out for ice cream, or going to a movie together, can you think of any other events that would be fun for two 10 year olds?
I'm hoping to get a gift card, or at least type up a list for him to choose an event.

    Thank you so much!

For DC's birthday we used to have big parties, but at about age 9 switched to family outings...

    We have done:

Bird programs with the Audubon Society
Aquarium with a behind the scenes tour
Aquarium with an animal meet & greet

Depending on your location, the budget, the kids involved... Keep it as simple as roller/ice skating, bowling, the movies or as intensive as rock climbing, amusement park, ect.

Another fun thing is visiting a large animal shelter and bringing donations... We just did this as a family and then DC went to a different shelter with school... DC also attended a party at an animal rescue center and it was amazing...

We’ve been doing outings with a few friends for both girls’ birthdays for a few years now. So far they have done:

    Bowling/laser tag
    Mini-golf
    Movie
    Soap making
    Paint your own pottery
    Glass blowing

We usually add in getting ice cream at a local ice cream parlor along with the activity.

My niece at 11 years old celebrated her birthday in a quest room. It was pretty fun for the kids.
