    Don't know when you are coming but you mentioned south of the city. If you are planning on taking the T keep an eye on the red line alerts. (If that it the route you are taking) It has been a nightmare lately.

    You might want to consider going out to the Boston Harbor Islands. You can take a ferry from different places in Boston - there might actually be one from Quincy. There's park service interpreters out there, forts to visit, and it's nice to be out on the water. Just a thought since you mentioned interest in history, and if you're close to Quincy.

    I would try a Clam Shack in Plymouth. Either Lobster Hut or Woods Seafood have good reputations.
