Default Christmas part dress for Vegas

Bit of fun...my husbandís work has a Christmas party in Vegas in December. This year Iíd like to get a dress from rent the runway, and use it as a goal to work towards. Iíve been working out for last year and losing weight. Want to help me look at dresses? Post a link to a dress in the comments.

Iím 5í3Ē, currently 142, but hope to be in 130s by Christmas. Iím very pear shaped, usually wear knee length dress, Iíve got small waist and defined shoulders/arms (weight lifting is showing results). Iím 46, so nothing too short or revealing. Many of DHís colleagues are in 20s and 30s, and they wear tight/short dress as itís Vegas. Even if I could wear that kind of dress, I wouldnít be comfortable. So want classy, but something party too!

Not sure I understand your plan. On RTR the dresses change over regularly for rent so as to reflect style and season. Are you wanting to buy from them? Otherwise, you can't really start looking until a lot closer to the event.

Iím looking for an inspirational dress. A goal to keep me working out. Closer to the event, Iíll look for actual dress.

What would you wear to Vegas Christmas party?

I didn't look at RTR because it's too vast. But, something like these
    https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/eliza-j...=silver%20blue
    https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/sandro-...~6&color=black
    https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/vince-c...~~6&color=navy
I don't know how I feel about this one. I keep going back to it https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/lulus-g...~6&color=green
    https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/harlyn-...8~~6&color=red
    https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/vince-c...~6&color=taupe
    https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/eliza-j...~~6&color=blue
    https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/vince-c...~~6&color=navy

    https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/xscape-...~~6&color=navy
I caved and looked at RTR but not sure you'll be able to see what I see
    this style, different color https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/d...d_waist_sheath
Ugh, I forgot how much I hate using RTR. I clicked on that dress now the results page is acting up.

I'm short too. I think if it hits below the knee it looks pretty frumpy. Go with something above the knee. That isn't "short" plus you're talking about a night out in Vegas. There's no harm in going a few inches above the knee- you'll still look appropriate.

I love the first silver dress. Iíve never worn a sequined dress, Iíd say Vegas is the place to do it! Also like the one shoulder dress. Both are different to what Iíd wear in past. Iíll see what I can wear when it gets closer. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah the RTR results page wasnít working for me either.

I think the silver one is the best, I actually thought the one shoulder one seemed dated.

What color is your hair/skin tone? Will you probably get a spray tan (makes a HUGE difference if you are pale), I don't go to any major event wearing a cocktail dress without a spray tan (I pay 20.00 to have someone spray me, looks great and lasts for days).

Iím fair with freckles. My hair is brown with silver highlights - I gave up dying it as I went grey young. Iíve never had a spray tan, something to consider!

I put your parameters into RtR, I even put in "pear-shape". Their selection didn't seem that great for a holiday dress, I guess it's seasonal. These are some of the ones that I think might work. Awesome that you are working out and getting into the shape you want.

Hereís a dumb question just for my interest (Iím glad that I no longer need to think about dressing for events like this!). Looking at the various links snugglebuggles listed, I noticed that most of them are dry clean only or hand wash. No big surprise. However, the lace-scuba crepe dress is "spot clean only"! Iíve encountered spot clean for stuffed animals and the like, but never for actual clothing. Is this a thing?!
