Everyone says his resume is stellar and he's "doing all the right things." But no offers.
I hate being in limbo like this.

I'm so sorry! My husband had a bit of unemployment a few years ago, SO stressful. I was working and things were never...... dire, but still, stressful. Just the not knowing! I swear it kind of re-wired my brain, it has been years but I can still feel the stress when I think about it.
BEST wishes for a speedy resolution.
I am so sorry. DH has been laid off a few times in our marriage, it is so stressful. Definitely see if you qualify for benefits for food, medical, ect.

Thanks. We're actually financially secure (though we will have to move if something doesn't pan out). It's more of a self-esteem issue. DH has worked (really, really) hard his whole life and had worked his way up to COO. It's difficult to find another equivalent position at this point, and getting something less is challenging too because he's "overqualified." And I know I'm opening a can of worms, but being a middle-aged white male in Silicon Valley is a detriment, too.
Promises were made, and promises were broken, and my DH was punished simply for doing the right thing. (I can't go into details partly for legal reasons.)
Something will work out eventually, but the one promising option that actually would have led to an even better place didn't work out, and that was especially hard on him.
I posted in the BP because I'm just feeling bad for him.

It’s a tough time. My DH was laid off and while he found freelance work and then a staff job, it was a few years before he ended up at current company and he now enjoys working again. Hoping something works out soon.

and ... a mini poodle!
I'm so sorry. I hope it turns around for him soon.
It's definitely an emotional "ouch" to realize that we are at the age where ageism starts to work against us. I hope he finds something that lets him use his talents again, and where he feels appreciated.
Sending P&PT. That is very, very hard.
