    Default Teen periods rant

Ugh, 13 year old DD got her period for the first time in December, she had 2 real periods and one incident of spotting in early February. Since then, nothing. For 5+ months. Until this morning. And guess what today is...the first day of long course state championship swim meet! Poor girl has some major events in the next couple days, including the 800 free today and the 1500 free on Sunday. I hope it’s not a heavy period. But at least she did find it funny that her period would reappear today of all days.

Oh, no, that’s just not fair!

She may want to consider taking an iron supplement since she has so much physical activity.

We are out of town, so I don’t have any iron. But I did remember to bring supplies at least

I feel your pain as swim mom, I will tell you, on the high school team almost all of the girls are in BC to ease heavy periods and we're going to start doing the pills nonstop to avoid periods during the season.

It turned out to be pretty light fortunately. She ended up getting 6th place in her age group (13-14) for the 1500, so she was pretty excited! Thanks for asking.
