Default Where to stay for conference in Chicago?

So I'm attending a conference in Chicago at the Hyatt Regency in the fall. I'm traveling alone and I'd like to stay within walking distance of the hotel ideally. The price is prohibitive though in the vicinity of the hotel. Any ideas for me, may be in the suburbs ? TIA!

Did the conference not hold a block of rooms at a good rate?

Are you paying out of pocket or do you have a cap on reimbursement?

What month/timeframe? Rates will vary greatly depending on timing.

The conference does hold a block of rooms but after paying for the flights my reimbursement would not cover the hotel expenses, registration for conference etc. It adds up fast. The conference is in October. Thanks.

Need to know your budget. The fairmont is close to the Hyatt (like they’re back to back) and is generally much less expensive because it’s an old fairmont. Check that out, but if that’s too expensive, we need to know your budget

This is a long shot, but do you have any colleagues who will also be attending the conference and might be interested in sharing a room? (This was common at the medical education conferences I attended for years, either colleagues from the same institution or those from elsewhere whom we got to know.)

There are a lot of hotels within walking distance, plug in your dates and see what comes up and we can let you know if they are ok. The marathon is on one Oct weekend and that's a huge issue if you are near that date.

    How about an airbnb?

I'd avoid staying further out, you'll spend quite a bit of time traveling in, and maybe not save that much. Also do not worry about safety around the area, it is very safe, just don't walk with your phone out, but that goes for any big city.
