Default ISO tried and true gingerbread recipe

I would love to try making gingerbread this year and would love to know if anyone has a recipe they recommend. Thanks!

I really like the recipe from "Cooking for Geeks", but now am intrigued enough by the Smitten Kitchen recipe to try something different this year.

Are you looking for a cookie recipe or a bready/cakey recipe?

I make lebkuchen (similar idea) from a recipe my mother gave me; I don't recall if I've posted it here. As it requires tree-nuts, it's not allergy-friendly, so if that's a concern, I can't help.

Also, the Museum of the American Revolution just posted a ginger-snaps recipe that looks pretty neat ... and it doesn't require cookie cutters! (I may try this one if I feel especially ambitious.)

I love lebkuchen! Would you post your recipe? I've never made it, just bought all the different kinds: glazed, chocolate coated, apricot filled, etc.

I'd be happy to; it'll take me a couple of days to grab it (don't have it typed on this laptop) so I can promise it by Sunday morning.

Thank you! I made these yesterday and they turned out great. The spice was very nice and they were the perfect sturdiness for cookie cutters. Will definitely make again!

You are so kind! I've read recipes for lebkuchen, but I'd rather use one that's tried and true. Thank you so much!
