Has anyone gotten MEL chemistry subscription kits?

Has anyone gotten MEL chemistry subscription kits? Looks interesting to me, but I'm a little concerned that reviews all seem to talking about the same two experiments. Also, if they are age-wise where they say - 12yo and up. Looks like it could be a great gift, or home school tool?

We tried them last summer. It was ok - definitely needed adult supervision with my 8yo and 11yo. But basically the kids weren’t really into it. They did one set of experiments and completely ignored the rest so I cancelled our subscription.
For a kid interested in science though, it would likely make a great gift.
The quality of the experiments seemed reasonably good. I suspect the timing wasn’t right for my kids. I might try it again next year.
(FWIW we tried the Kiwi crate too and that was much more of a hit.)
