I’ve bought Mad Libs before and ripped out 1-2 pages and given those out before in our goody bags. Paired with a writing implement and you’re set. Word searches, hidden pictures... might be better for 2nd graders but 5th graders will get a kick out of Mad Libs.

Maybe a new box of crayons or something like that. I've done simple things like that or Scholastic books if given enough lead time by the teacher to get the $1 books in. Book outlet has several books (including dot-to-dots mentioned by a PP) for < $1.

Can you just buy something for the classroom? Goody bags at class parties just aren’t a thing here. Maybe some decks of cards or board games if they ever have indoor recess?

I’m hoping to keep it to 50 cents per item or less.

Darn I just missed it this weekend. I knew I should have posted here sooner for the collective wisdom!

These are good ideas, thank you. The origami idea is really unique.

Both class teachers have asked for students to each bring a small item to fill classmates’ goody bags. So this isn’t a parent initiative at all. We are also doing crafts, games, etc during the party, this is just something additional the teachers want to do.

Where do you suggest I buy stuff like this? Amazon? I think I’m too late for oriental trading (the second teacher only just let us know yesterday).

I bet the slinkies would be appreciated! Rubik’s cube would be too but they’ve been given as favors kinda often already here.
