Fanny packs are definitely back in. We were at Universal Studios last weekend and saw a group of about 15 teen girls who were all wearing matching ones.

With boys, it seems more common to wear them across their chest, like a shoulder bag. When we were in Tokyo and Vietnam this summer all the men were wearing them this way. Even DH broke down and bought one to wear across his chest!

Pretty funny! When my family was visiting last summer, I found a fanny pack in a drawer and foisted it off on 15-y.o. DGD1. She was definitely not thrilled but was polite enough to take it off my hands. Maybe it will resurface!!

My son is 12 and doesn’t have one. His friends carry them in hand, in shorts pockets or string bag. They all have cracked screens, which is a big part of my hesitation to give him one to take out of the house.

My boys carry them either in their backpacks or a jacket/sweatshirt pocket or pants/short pocket. I try to buy them athletic pants with zippered pockets for this reason.

What's the problem with sewing the pocket to their clothes so they can carry the phone comfortably?

DS needs to carry his phone for medical reasons and he wears a Spibelt. It's small enough that his t-shirt covers it up and it's not embarrassing. He's thin enough that the kids version still fits him.
