What to do in Greece/Crete
So now 18 years after we got married, we are finally going on our honeymoon to Greece. LOL. We just got our tickets and we're going in late spring to Crete for 8 days and Athens for 4. Oh and our 16 year old is going with us.
We have family in both places but we want to have a bunch of ideas to discuss. I know some of you have been recently - please post your ideas for tips.
Things we know we want to do:
Enjoy the beaches near Chania and also to the east
Knossos
Sameria Gorge
Heraklion museums

Make sure to go out sailing once or twice. That was so enjoyable there, crystal clear water, calm, great for jumping in and swimming. The water is cold though, just to be prepared.
A lot of the beaches are more pebbly than sandy, so prepare with the right shoes for that. The water is still amazing.
Chania is great for walking, shopping, eating, I bought my favorite cover up there.
We spent a few hours here, beautiful with great wine and olive oil tasting

When we were in Chania, we did a tour to a beach on the south side of the island (Sfakia region. You can only get there by boat or by a 2 hour hike. It was super relaxing, the water was calm, we rented canoes and paddleboats and the restaurant was amazing. This is the company we used, but their site is under construction

Elounda was really nice. We stuck around our resort a lot and just used it as a time to relax. We did take a boat tour from here that was just our family and was really great. Our resort https://www.marriott.com/hotels/trav...ph-collection/
I can also recommend this restaurant near Elounda http://piato.gr/
In Athens, we stayed at this hotel...if nothing else have dinner at the restaurant on the roof. It has an amazing view of Athens. Truly spectacular.
