Probably obvious but a great cleaner who specializes in new builds and all the secret spots that dust, etc. hides worth it. Having an interior designer work with you on your existing items and how to style, even if you aren’t totally starting over. They will think of things and configurations that you wouldn’t have thought of. New, nice mailbox if you have mail delivery at your door. Congratulations!

Keep a notebook handy and jot down every single thing you find that may need to be fixed. Little things will pop up over time, no matter how great the house is, new houses will have small issues here and there.

Do not sign off until they have fixed EVERY single issue, no matter how small.

This, do not rely on the builders representations alone.

Congratulations! I'm so happy and excited for you!

Have you thought about window coverings for your bedroom? You can buy temporary light blocking ones until you have time to install nice ones.

If anyone wants to give you a going away present, gift cards to Home Depot and Target will be much needed for all of the things like shower curtains, coat hooks, new towels for the half bath, etc.
