    Default Favorite mask tutorial?

I’ve made a few of the Deaconess type, but I’m out of elastic. Tried one with tors this morning...and making those long ties was so time consuming. I’d like to use pipe cleaner for the nose piece...is there a favorite mask tutorial you’re using to make masks that includes the nose piece and ties? A filter pocket would be good too.

Hospitals and nursing homes around here are requesting ties instead of elastic - apparently they are more comfortable for all day wear, and easier to get a good fit too.

But I agree, the ties are a pain to make!

    This one looks pretty good:

I assume you could use ribbon or cord or things like that for the ties?

    Here’s one I found -

I’m no good at sewing or making anything so I can’t tell how good it is.

Joann Fabrics has a number of great DIYs, including one that uses bias tape instead of elastic:

TBH, bias tape was my gut impulse from a sterilization standpoint.

That's awesome! What a great idea to use bias tape instead of sewing your own straps!

    A local hospital created/shared this tutorial https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=erQuW8eDCew

Hair binders are used for the elastic and there is a pocket for a filter.

My friend is making a ton of them. And she started using panty hose for the ties! She says it’s cheap, super stretchy and comfortable. She just cuts them into strips.

Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Going to try making these without a machine, especially since I have a ton of hair bands and no elastic.
