My kids always find Kleenex stuffed in the toes of their shoes - easy and cheap... toilet paper hoarders can use TP.
One year, we switched our sleeping kids to each other’s room, older one did not appreciate that!
Can't wait to read some fun ideas!

We always mess with computer settings - like turning the screen upside down, putting strange screen savers.
Freeze milk in a bowl with the spoon in it. Cover with cereal and serve it for breakfast.
Frost cupcakes with mashed potatoes.

Fake grilled cheese sandwiches with Sara Lee pound cake and tinted orange/yellow frosting. My son loves this one!

Jello made in drinking glasses. Even better if you can use gelatin with their favorite juice so it looks realistic.
Would changing all the toilet paper rolls to empty cardboard rolls and telling everyone you're out of TP be funny? Or maybe not right now...ha ha
Or you could replace the TP with a roll of duct tape and tell them that's all there is now.

So, I ended up cutting holes in the TP in the shape of card symbols (heart, diamond, spade...) and carefully re-rolling the roll. Then I used a glue stick to stick the end down so it would be hard to get the paper up. I tied their dining room chairs together. DH flipped their ipad wallpapers upside-down. I found an old green plastic halloween spider toy and painted it black and brown...I will throw it at the kids later or pretend to "find" it in the crack of the couch. And I cut a heart in a Kleenex and carefully tucked it back in the box. So far, they're doing schoolwork and no one has discovered anything and they don't even know what day it is HAHAHAHAHA.
I’m going with taping an image under the toilet seat of a mime pretending to be trapped.
Gel food coloring on toothbrushes
Also a spider prank (fake one in mailbox and have one go get the mail)

My son totally believed it.
