During a boy scout meeting last week a message popped up saying that they were allowing the meeting to go past the 40 minutes. So it doesn't seem like they a waiving it in general but perhaps for specific sessions.

I think it depends on the email address the person holding the meeting signs up with. If it is a school email address and a few other organizations, they are waiving the 40 minute limit.

DH set it up with his personal email address. At the end of the session, a message popped up that said he received a gift and the session was being extended.
