Our club team practices at a city facility and they are open for lap swim only. They started out with one per lane, one hour limit on practices, use your own gear and it comes in with you and leaves with you (they used to store it at the pool), bathrooms only for emergencies, no water fountains are to be used, and no one inside the facility except for coaches, swimmers and facility staff. They also built in 15 minute windows so each group would enter and exit without running into groups who practice before or after them. Our club swimmers and coaches are also using a different entrance than the public lap swimmers. All were encouraged to keep their 6 ft distance. Coaches wear masks. After Memorial Day they are moving to 2 per lane and increasing practice time.

All neighborhood pools opened in my area over the weekend. These are private membership pools and all have different rules in place.

My daughter's swim club is looking at starting practices with the same guidelines- their indoor pool is closed indefinitely so they are looking for an outdoor facility that will let them run early morning practices. No pools in our state are open yet though.

My kids have had Zoom practices for various team sports (lacrosse, field hockey, and rock climbing team).

My DD just restarted private horseback riding lessons last week. She was over the moon that we let her start back up again. I think it is good for her mental health and there is no human-to-human contact involved and new safety guidelines in place, so it seems worth the risk.

Our team sports are hoping they can resume in person practice the last week of June or early July.

Thanks! Our swim team can’t find a pool. We normally practice at a local high school and an outdoor long course pool in the summer. Neither has committed to opening. I ended up getting DD a gym membership that has lap swim. One person per lane (6 lanes). She’s been twice and seen swimmers from two other teams. None of the local swim teams have practice plans in place.

Today at a park, off the beaten path, nobody else around, tucked in a neighborhood, 8 of DS's hockey teammates with 2 coaches had a dryland workout, some shooting, all using their own sticks, socially distant. The parents were sitting 6 feet apart. About an hour in a PD suv drove in, approached the boys and coaches, said someone, obviously Karen, called in and said kids were playing football without masks (our Governor has asked people to wear a mask in stores, offices etc, not outside). The police officer said, they look like they are having a great workout, and fun. Nothing for me to be concerned about and drove off. I mean, who at 10 am on a Sunday morning thinks they need to make that phone call!?!

Our kids weren't doing anything wrong, folks around here are being careful. I did see a lady at Binnys, a liquor store refuse to put on a mask and was escorted out by police, but mostly 95% I'd guess are being safe, wearing a mask and respectful of others and guidelines.

We have zoom dance classes for DD’s dance team. They are talking about doing performances on outdoor stages which I might be ok with. Otherwise, nothing’s open here.

Our summer camps can operate this summer with extra rules and regulations. Groups of 10 or few kids, stay with the same counselor throughout the day, kids 10 and up wear masks unless eating, swimming, or exercising. Lots of disinfecting and extra cleaning. Temperatures taken, symptoms observed. Sick kids immediately isolated and sent home. No parents may enter buildings or cabins, drop off strictly from cars. No end of session performances/assemblies with parents etc.

Some POA pools have opened here, but again, lots of regulations. Temp checks and symptom questions for all, no pool toys, no slide or diving boards, all kids and adults (not in the same family) must stay 6 ft apart in and out of the water. Pool tables and loungers spaced far apart. Many neighborhood pools cannot afford the expenses of the extra health guards or creating a new separate exit from the entrance so they cannot open. Also no mouth to mouth resuscitation is allowed, only bag style and compressions.

Where I am (Ontario, Canada), there are ZERO in-person activities or sports running (indoor or outdoor). A couple of weeks ago the province cancelled all overnight camps for the summer, and city day camps are closed for the summer as well. We’re still waiting to hear about private day camps, but I’m not holding by breath. No pools or swimming either. Some activities are running some things by Zoom, but that’s it. It feels like a completely different world from places like Florida, where it sounds like everything is ‘back to normal’!

No resorts are open, and right now, you can’t even rent a cottage. I’m very envious of people who own a cottage or have a backyard pool. For the rest of us, it’s going to be a LOOOOOONG summer here, with no activities, no sports, no camp, and nowhere to go!

I’m holding out hope that we can at least visit my parents (5 hours away) by the end of August. Not too optimistic about that, either.
