    It looks like Amazon has a few Janome models available. Here's a mechanical beginner's machine:

    I've been more than pleased with my Jem Gold. It lacks some of the more professional features, but I'm not a professional sewist I've been able to use it for mending, quilts, masks, stuffed animals, fleece hats, and more and it has tackled all of those jobs with ease. My hats, masks, and stuffies all get machine and dried washed with no issues. I'm about to embark on a beginner slipcover project (a simple cube slipcover for a stool/ottoman in an upholstery fabric) and I'm confident this machine will handle that just as easily.
