    Default Surprise dinner hit

I made this soup for dinner tonight fully expecting complaints from the peanut gallery. I about fell off my chair when everyone at the table declared it delicious. DS2 described it as flavor fireworks in his mouth. It was super easy and ready in 30 minutes. It could have been quicker if I had prepped veggies early in the day. I served it with pita and hummus on the side. HTHS

Wow, that looks yummy and I love your DC's description. I LOVE soup and it's something I would do at least once a week but my family is vocally anti-soup in warm months (which means at least 6 months of the year here). But there is SO much to love about soup!

This looks delicious! I may have to make it for freezing because DH doesn't "do" lentils. (Meanwhile, I love them.)

My DH doesn’t do lentils either. They’ve slowly been appearing on our menu more often.

It's a texture thing for DH and he can't bring himself to get over it. Even pureed, I'm not sure how much he'd tolerate them.

It's really annoying, because I haven't been able to cook a lot of my childhood favorites because of his sensory vetoes - I hate making multiple meals.

I have a recipe I made recently too and the kids atleast ate without complaints so I’d call it a win https://youtu.be/TGAMezV-TmE

I totally get it! In our house we only make one meal but we always have extra items on the table that everyone will eat. Fruit, cheese, raw veggies, bread, etc. Sometimes they only eat the sides. That’s ok in my book. I figure it’s good practice for later. They won’t always like the menu when they’re invited to eat elsewhere but they will need to find something on the table they can eat. In your case I would make the lentils as the side.
