Default What symptoms would prompt you to get tested for Covid?

DH has been coughing on and off all morning. Not a hard cough, but an annoying one every so often. No fever or other symptoms. He said he feels some congestion. Could be summer allergies, but he has not spend a lot of time outside lately (just short walks with the dog in the yard). I told him if the cough is still around then tomorrow maybe he should consider getting tested. Of course this happens right before the holiday weekend and our anniversary and we were hoping to picnic with friends this weekend. It’s going to be a long winter if every cough or fever makes me think possible Covid!

    Not for that alone.
What sorts of exposures does he have?

Are you by chance in the path of the sandstorm? I was having lots of asthma, tickle in my throat, sinus headache and congestion a couple days ago and I'm sure it was from the poor air quality.

He is still working from home so not a lot of exposure. He goes to Lowes (with a mask) about once a week for supplies for renovating our basement. And we saw his family outside for a picnic on Fathers Day but no one wore masks. The girls and I tried to have a good distance between us and everyone else but DH sat close with his family eating and chatting on the front porch.

If anyone in his family had it or was tested then I would have him test. If he is having shortness in breath I would have him test, but in coughing alone I may not.

Is he kicking up any dust, sawdust... with the renovation? Likely culprit.

I asked about that but he has mostly been working on electrical and wiring stuff the past few nights.

His sense of smell normally is not very good but no complaints of it bent any worse than normal today.

I think the cough is making me more antsy than normal since we are to see friends this weekend and I’d hate to pass anything on if any of us are carriers!

I would be up front with them. Tell them what his symptoms are (regardless of if he gets tested) and let them make an informed decision. Don't be offended if they decide not to see you. Everyone has their own comfort level.
