Default Backyard wins for older kids (pre teen)

What's been a win in your backyard for the older kids (8 and up)? We have a smallish swingset/playhouse combo we're taking down as the kids have basically said they are done with it. It came with the house and never really got as much love as I thought it would. And we have one of those 1/2 dome climbing structures https://www.amazon.com/Lifetime-Geom.../dp/B004K0Q8LG . They use that occasionally but not as much as I thought they would (and it gets hot in the sun).

They seem interested in monkey bars or even a pull up bar. We have quite a bit of space for CA, but unfortunately not a lot of grass or trees b/c of our arid climate. Would love to hear some ideas!

My husband is building a climbing wall. Really it's for him, but I would consider him a big kid.

We just bought a house with a pool. It’s been love so far. We also inherited a large play structure and neither girl (14, and 10) has used it; even Dd2 who loves swings. If they were even 2 years younger I think it might have gotten a little bit of love. Dh is going to dismantle it. I have no idea what we are going to do with the space. I do like the idea of a rock wall, but I can’t see Dh building one of those (he isn’t super handy). Maybe we will get a cornhole set or spike ball. Dd1 would love a VB net, and Dd2 wants a hammock. We also have a basketball hoop but haven’t used it much because it has been super hot this past week.

Maybe not what you’re looking for but my big kids get a ton of use from our long concrete driveway. They use their scooters, skateboards, bikes, roller skates, chalk (yes, the older kids!), basketball. Im always surprises by how much they use concrete more than grass.

Our kids (preteen and two teens) are using our outdoor projector and fire pit for regular outdoor movie nights. It’s been hot here during the day and having the backyard used through the evening and after sunset had been wonderful!

I think that making a driveway or patio zone from quality and eco-friendly asphalt will cost the same money as pouring concrete into it. I think that concrete is a better solution because it's more durable than asphalt. If you're from Indianapolis, then I can recommend you to choose this concrete leveling Indianapolis company. You can get a free consultation from them and find out more answers to your questions from specialists.

We have a sport court that gets a fair amount of love in the cooler not hot weather. Riding scooters or skateboards is also a popular activity on it (we have no driveway). Before you dismantle your playset, does it have a little hut? That's a popular place for tweens/teens to hang out.

Our projector gets a ton of use. We do movie nights and DS2 watches shows in the pool all the time, but it would be nice next to a firepit as well. We hook up our Roku to it.
