I've always wanted to visit Carmel. I don't know if that's an appealing option for you? I love Napa and have been several times. I know you don't drink but there are wonderful restaurants and I find learning about the winemaking process fascinating. I also find that the symmetry of vineyards is so soothing to the eye. Not sure if crush season is starting yet, but we went once in October and the air smelled of wine. I love this resort and have stayed 2-3 times: https://carnerosresort.com/travel-up...mpaign=generic

We just spent 5 nights in Big Bear last month, all 5 of us, so don't think I want to go there again especially since it was super crowded as we were leaving (we were there during the week and left Sat morning).

Arrowhead and Big Bear are different to begin with, and going in tourist season and now even just a month later is like comparing watermelons to apples. There are way less people up there now and it will be a completely different feel. Arrowhead when there are no tourists is like a sleepy little town. You can literally stay at the hotel and do nothing. It is amazing.

This is a charming looking hotel in Avila Beach (just north of Pismo), a block from the beach & adults only https://www.avilalafonda.com/

Do you prefer beach or mountains? I’m a beach girl. The central coast could also be really nice and isn’t too much of a drive. I don’t know if I’d want to do Carmel during COVID. It’s super charming but it’s fairly dense. I think it would be hard to find activities that don’t violate good COVID policies there right now.

I knew the name sounded familiar. I have their Lighthouse hotel on my list for future travel https://www.avilalighthousesuites.com/ but yours looks even better. I had forgotten about that rec. OP you should go to one of those.

Thanks for this suggestion! I love that dogs are allowed. I had to cancel the last weekend we tried to get away because our dog boarding place isn't open right now.

Twin Peaks is not on the lake so if you want a lake view you need either Lake Arrowhead or Lake Gregory. It is a 10 minute drive or so to Lake Arrowhead. Keep in mind that Lake Arrowhead doesn’t really have walkable shoreline though. There are a few private beaches though through some lakeside condos or associations. UCLA has a big conference center with a private beach and some rentals maybe connected to the conference center/beach because the owners are members.

So DH was still liking the idea of Ojai and wanted to keep the price down to under $300 a night, which is pretty difficult!

We ended up booking The Pink Moment room at The Lavender Inn in Ojai. It looks super cute. https://lavenderinn.com/rooms/

I then booked a Play With Clay 2 hour workshop at the local pottery studio for Saturday (outdoors, masks, 6 people max). I've always wanted to take a pottery/ceramics class since high school so I'm excited!

On Sunday we plan to drive to the beach and rent bikes and have a picnic lunch.

Should be a mellow weekend. Thanks for all the help!

Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations for Ojai? I haven't researched anything food related yet.

I have some beautiful pottery wine glasses bought at a pottery shop in Ojai that I still use 20 years later. Some lovely hikes up there.

Sounds like a great weekend. Enjoy! My sister lives only about 30 min from Ojai, and I’ve been several times (pre-kids).
