A cynical person might question if “herd immunity” is one way to for governments to deal with individuals that are aging or unhealthy and are therefore costly to care for in terms of medical and pension costs.

Given that new studies seem to indicate that about 10% of those who survive Covid end up with long term health effects that are yet to be understood, herd immunity is stupid. We have no idea how many people will be disabled or damaged to some degree after being sick. Immunity doesn’t look to last long either, so how many folks with “herd immunity” will get sick again in the future?

Seems like the CBA doesn’t weigh out if you actually look at science and ethical considerations.
