Movies I've seen recently, either on streaming or OnDemand, that I enjoyed include:
- Knives Out
- Troop Zero
- Always Be My Maybe
- Loving
- Spotlight
- The Shape of Water
- On the Basis of Sex
YMMV on whether or not you enjoy The Shape of Water; I loved it. That said, I'm also a big fan of monster movies and the way Guillermo del Toro tells stories. He uses both monster movie and fairy tale tropes to tell dreamlike stories in a specific way; it's not for everyone, but I thought it truly deserved its Oscar win.
I also have TV series rec's if you're interested.

DD (3/2010)
"Make mistakes! Get messy!" - Miss Frizzle
Both of my kids loved Knives Out so don't rule that out with them, if they are interested.
We're more into action and comedy movies than "Oscar" worthy movies so keep that in mind (aka disregard my list if that's not your taste!).
Marvels (though you might have seen them with your kids)
James Bond
Crazy Rich Asians
Bohemian Rhapsody
Gone Girl
Hidden Figures
The Martian
Wolf of Wall Street (old but maybe you missed it)
To All the Boys I've Loved Before
Room (hard to watch but so good)
Spiderman Into the Spiderverse
Book Club (silly fun)
Murder Mystery
Bad Moms (both)
Spenser Confidential
The Other Guys
Central Intelligence
Spy (Melissa McCarthy)
“The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir” on Amazon Prime. I saw this on a transAtlantic flight last year and really liked it. DH liked it too when we watched it recently.
Not a movie but “Schitt’s Creek” is fantastic IMO. DH doesn’t find it quite as funny as me (I’ve watched the series 3x)...DH is only 2 episodes in. I have hope that it’ll catch on for him.
ETA: “The Farewell.” I think I watched it on Netflix. Not a funny movie but a really interesting view on Chinese culture and death. It was a cozy movie for me...I felt like I was part of their family.

Twilight (plus sequels if interested)

Pearl Harbor
Ready Player One (though the book is much better)
I may add more later...

I’m way behind on movies, too. Just some random I thought of that I watched this year and really enjoyed m, but not mentioned are Greenbook and Yesterday
Back again to add:
Sherlock Homles (and sequel) - with Robert Downy Jr
Next - with Nickolas Cage
Boss Baby - was silly/funny kids' movie cartoon
House with a clock in its walls (with Jack Black) - PG, slightly spooky - might be good for kids' Halloween
Mary Poppins - this was a remake recently... 2018?
Mulan (brand new remake now on Disney +)
And... of course...
Hamilton The stage musical filmed live with original cast, shown on Disney +
